Arinze Stanley Egbengwu (born 1993) is a Nigerian artist working in a genre of art known as hyperrealism. He is best known for his life-size portraits of regular people of mostly African descent.

Working primarily with charcoal and graphite on paper, Arinze uses his works as a medium for social and political activism, addressing pressing matters both in his community and worldwide, matters including Modern slavery and feminism.
Awards he has won include the 'World's best Self-portrait' in American Art Awards juried by 25 American galleries.[1] Arinze's debut group show held at the Omenka Gallery in Lagos, Nigeria in 2016[2][3] and his debut international exhibition at Scope art showduring Miami Art week 2017.[4]

Early life[edit]

Arinze was Born 20 November 1993, He is a self-taught artist living and working in Lagos, Nigeria, where he grew up.[5][6]
In 2014, Arinze graduated from Imo State University with a Bachelor's of Engineering in agricultural engineering.[7][8]
“I draw inspiration from life experiences and basically everything that sparks a feeling of necessity, I love to express deep and strong emotions, as I find them most attractive,”[9][10] Arinze told The Huffington Post[11]

Belgian art dealer Isy Brachot coined the French word Hyperréalisme, meaning Hyperrealism, as the title of a major exhibition and catalogue at his gallery in Brussels in 1973.
