John Ruskin was born on this day in 1819!
Ruskin was one of the most influential writers on art and architecture in 19th-century Britain.
The use of colour in art was important to Ruskin. He believed that the colours of the natural world could inspire and guide artists who should replicate them as truthfully as possible.
Here we share a portrait of John Ruskin by John Everett Millais alongside works created by Ruskin himself.

■二水獼猴的快樂天堂■
從松柏嶺受天宮下抵二水郊野，過橋後，猴群如常出現了。多年來，因周遭是果園，猴群幾乎固定在此，有時集聚成團，有時分散各處林間。
今日有大猴小猴在咬刺竹嫩芽，或呆望，或在相互理毛捉蝨子，但更多在地面徘徊，撿食錫蘭橄蘭。覓食者很專注啃咬，似乎相當享受。整個山谷瀰迷漫著橄欖發酵的香味，連我都醉了。……
