竹久夢二美術館が監修した『夢二の色　竹久夢二を魅了した７つの色彩ブック』（美術出版社　1500円＋税）は、夢二作品を“色”という視点からとらえ、見つめなおすことによって、新たな魅力を紹介した一冊です。

夢二図版を赤・青・黄・緑・紫・茶・黒の色別に掲載し、色彩の専門家（武蔵大学 丸山伸彦教授）による色の説明と、当館学芸員による作品解説とエッセイ「夢二の色」で紹介する絵本サイズの小さな本です。巻末に色鮮やかな夢二の図案を使った、12枚の絵葉書が綴じ込み付録になっています。

「向方形致敬」的色彩大師──約瑟夫・亞伯斯(Josef Albers)

這天傍晚媽媽買了一條咖啡色的裙子，隔天陽光一照竟然是紫色的。有沒有這樣的經驗？明明是兩件黑色衣服，搭在一起時，一件偏綠，一件偏藍。看著一幅畫，那如影的湖水是用藍綠色形容，還是綠藍色呢？自從在印刷廠著迷的看著繪本印刷過程之後，更常注意到大家在討論顏色時的挫折，我們在電腦螢幕上看到的是由光的RGB三色投射生成的結果；彩色印刷則為 C（Cyan青色）、M（Magenta洋紅）、Y（Yellow黃）、K（black黑）四色，是對於光或顏料混合之後生成的結果，我們在視覺上所反應出的顏色因色彩本質、光線強度與折射、加上人體個別差異，必須經過專門校色才能趨近。顏色的敏銳度除了有天生的基本能力，也可仰賴後天學習。

之前拜訪瑪莉安．杜莎（Marion Deuchars）時，她說每天到工作室的第一件事，通常先用顏色暖身。方法有好幾種，最常用的是從一張名畫裡挑顏色複製，在自己的調色盤上調出最接近畫上的顏色，完成紀錄；譬如高更、梵谷、歐姬芙、孟克都是她練習的對象，某些畫家的顏色很難模仿，即使只模擬五個顏色，也要分好幾次才完成，不過後來越來越得心應手。

另一種是使用點畫，她採用同心圓式的點法，以八個點為中心最小的一圈，然後14、20、26、32⋯⋯漸次擴大範圍。可以是同色系或是七彩變化的，畫點的時候養成的專注尤其能夠穩定心情。還有其他以潑灑、剪貼、或以「色系」來列舉顏色的名稱，尋找顏色的差異與命名。後來這些作法結集成一本書，書名是 Colour。其中有一跨頁上列出24種微差異的黑色；另外還有一頁說明顏色與其互補色放在一起有什麼樣的效果，譬如橘色與藍色是最撞色的組合之一，如果將橘色方形放在藍色方形裡，有什麼樣的效果呢？如果在兩個顏色之間加上灰色，對顏色的感覺會有改變嗎？

Japan takes masks to a new level







As the virus continues to spread, consumers are starting to demand more of the coverings, and companies are responding with upgraded versions of the common throwaway surgical mask.







In Japan, where masks were widespread even before the pandemic, there has been a big push to innovate. Inventors have dreamed up masks with motorized air purifiers, Bluetooth speakers and even sanitizers that kill germs.







In South Korea, the electronics giant LG has created a mask powered with fans that make it easier to breathe. One company is trying to build a mask with a translator.







Historical context: Masks were first used in epidemics in the early 20th century, when Wu Lien-teh, a doctor of Chinese descent, began promoting simple gauze masks to battle an outbreak of pneumonic plague. During the 1918 flu, the practice went global.
