"The Horta Museum in Brussels, Belgium.
In 1898, Victor Horta purchased two seats on the Rue Américaine / Amerikaanse Canal, one of which he built for his home and the other for his studio. The architect constantly changed in both buildings before moving to Avenue Louise / Louizalaan in 1919. After being owned by various owners, the house was purchased by the Saint-Gilles municipality in 1961 at the initiative of Jean Delhaye and the studio in 1971. After successive restoration projects, Horta's works regained their original appearance. Fortunately the wall paintings, the wrought iron, the glazed rectangle and the mosaics are well preserved. Inside, the stairs play an important role in connecting the spaces. Elegantly curved banners reflect Horta's expressed love for soft lines. When turning the tree and cutting the stained glass, he was strongly inspired by the curve of the plants. Objects and contemporary furniture bring to life this remarkable example of Brussels' Art Nouveau heritage."
