Stéphane Martin, president of Paris’s musée du quai Branly–Jacques Chirac, shares insights into the conceptualization of the display of African art at the quai Branly. Their unique approach offers a fascinating view into how museums of former colonial powers and other Western nations display and interpret the arts of Africa, Oceania, and the Americas.

Martin’s talk is the third in a series of prominent French scholars and museum leaders invited by Julián Zugazagoitia, museum director and exhibition curator, to share perspectives on Pablo Picasso, his creative interests, and his relationship with the arts of Africa and the world.
