Paolo Uccello's The Hunt in the Forest

Ashmolean Museum──和 Erietta Nikol 。

🌳 Paolo Uccello's The Hunt in the Forest is one of the earliest examples of the effective use of perspective in Renaissance art. 🌳Painted around 1470, Uccello mapped out a grid on the panel’s surface as a guide for his design, fixing a central vanishing point. 🌳
Hunting was an aristocratic pastime and this nocturnal landscape scene was probably painted as a wall decoration for a home. 🌳 The crescent moon, the symbol of Diana, the classical goddess of the hunt, appears both in the night sky and on the horses' trappings. Uccello was born #onthisday in 1397
