The Berlin Brücke Museum: Ernst Ludwig Kirchner,

National Gallery of Art 在 Art A to Z 相簿中新增了 1 張相片。In Ernst Ludwig Kirchner's "Dance Hall Bellevue," spatial recession is subtly exaggerated in a manner reminiscent of Vincent Van Gogh or Edvard Munch. The perspectival effects are counterbalanced by patterns of color and line that emphasize the flatness of the canvas. With little concern for observed reality, Kirchner constructed the picture with bright patches of vibrant, non-naturalistic color outlined in thick, contrasting lines.
Kirchner and other artists of Die Brücke were committed to portraying the world around them—the human figure, nature, and the city and contemporary life—and to finding a style that could represent the inner or higher reality beneath surface appearances.

The Berlin Brücke Museum

Ernst Ludwig Kirchner, Fritz Beyl, Erich Hechel, and Karl-Schmidt Rotluff were some of the most colorful figures of the German Expressionist movement. They met as students in Dresden in 1905 and formed the Brücke group united by their desire to create a new type of art that was in their words, ‘immediate and pure’.

Berlin's Brücke Museum houses the largest collection of works from the German expressionist group ‘Die Brücke’ or ‘The Bridge’.
