沒有人知道紐約的4月還會下起大雪，於是你無法預期星期一的午後，紐約現代美術館會充滿擠進室內吹暖氣的觀光客們。你無法責怪他們，只能怪罪機緣讓你在最壞的時間來看亞德里安．派普（Adrian Piper）的回顧展；展覽應許觀眾們享受一對一私密觀賞經驗，但同時要求觀眾打起精神、全神貫注。你希望那些可能一生就來這麼一次紐約的旅人們（幸或不幸地遇到4月雪），沒有被梵谷的〈星夜〉或莫內的〈睡蓮〉絆住手腳，有著被全世界應許的耐心，不疾不徐地被各種垂直上升的機器牽引著，帶著半被人群折磨到精神耗弱的身軀，來到六樓看這檔亞德里安．派普的展覽。（撰文／謝佩君）
