Artist Emil Orlik was born #onthisday in 1870. In order to study the techniques of woodblock printmaking, Orlik embarked upon a two-month sea voyage, arriving in Japan in April 1900. He spent approximately ten months in Japan, where he visited ukiyo-e block carvers and printers and executed a large number of prints in a Japanese style.
