Rodin's assemblages

Rodin experimented with combining different elements of his own sculptures and even ancient Greek vases to produce what he called ‘assemblages’. He changed the size of his works and made multiple plaster copies so he could create challenging new compositions. Incorporating his collection of ancient Greek vases and pottery into these assemblages meant Rodin could make sculptures that appeared to defy gravity!
